Meet the Owner, Jeff Stewart:
Growing up in the woods of Pittsboro, North Carolina, Jeff Stewart fell in love with the outdoors at a very young age. He began training for Native Roots NC as he learned to walk. What began as “chores” became a satisfying way of life -- helping his parents care for the family log home and acreage, cutting (and climbing!) trees, splitting wood, and raising a large percentage of their vegetable and animal sustenance.
Jeff provides expertise in exotic invasive species control and a variety of land management and restoration activities. After college, Jeff worked for the Southeast Exotic Plant Management Team (SEEPMT), where he helped eradicate exotic invasive plants in 18 national parks throughout the Southeast. From there, he moved on to work with the North Carolina Plant Conservation Program, of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, gaining valuable experience in the protection of endangered species and their habitats. After that, Jeff spent five years working in land management and restoration for Unique Places. As the Director of Invasive Species Management, he helped eliminate the exotic invasive plant species from over 3000 acres in North Carolina. Jeff holds his NC Pesticide Applicators License, is a ISA Certified Arborist and is a NC Certified Prescribed Burner. He received a B.S. from the University of North Carolina-Asheville in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Ecology and Environmental Biology.
Native Roots NC services Western North Carolina and the Greater Chatham County areas. Jeff currently lives is Asheville, NC with his wife and two small children.
